For real estate agents, especially those located in the northern US, the end of the year and cold winter months may seem like the slow season. There are fewer people buying or selling their houses, but your days are still packed. You know that the work and preparation you do now are critical to filling your calendar next year.

Tips for Real Estate Agents in 2025

The past year has been one filled with change in the real estate industry.

Between regulation changes covering real estate commissions and new tools like artificial intelligence (AI) for real estate and virtual reality (VR) for home buying, real estate agents have had to adapt. That doesn’t mean there aren’t fundamental tactics you can use to set yourself up for success. Let’s look at the steps you can take to make 2025 your best year ever.

Review Your Processes and Work with Discipline

Many home buyers and sellers have been waiting for the market to shift. Whether it’s moderating mortgage rates, more political certainty or an increase in available inventory, 2025 is likely to be a busy year for real estate agents.

Make sure you can capitalize on new business by evaluating your current processes. Whether it’s a whiteboard to track closings, new prospects or home openings, a new digital marketing tool, or task management software, you don’t want to leave yourself overwhelmed and at risk of a mistake. Evaluate your processes, look for any potential problems or opportunities to work more efficiently, and build discipline into your workday.

Prioritize Your Leads and Lists

As a real estate agent, you are probably drowning in lists. Not only your standard to-do list, but you may have lists of potential new buyers and sellers, former contacts you need to connect with, partners and co-workers, community organizations and more.

By prioritizing these lists, you will maximize your time. Determine the highest priority to-dos, the most important new buyers to connect with, and the former customers you need to contact first. As your business heats up and your workload increases, you want to make sure you aren’t letting critical tasks languish at the bottom of your endless lists.

Identify and Market Your Value

As much potential as there is in real estate, there are also many headwinds. Even if they are moderating, mortgage rates are still high. Insurance is more expensive in many markets. Home prices can still give many buyers sticker shock, and affordability is still an issue.

You’re not just competing with other real estate agents; you’re competing in a busy market with a lot of noise and messages. To find new customers and grow your business, you need to clearly identify and market the value you bring. Don’t be afraid to use social media to increase your audience. Look at digital marketing tools like email. Invest in promotional material. Understand your value and use it to market your services.

Network and Nurture Relationships

Networking is critical in real estate. From finding new buyers and sellers to connecting with other agents and getting a seat at the table of a big deal, you are in the business of building relationships.

You need to have a networking plan. Set aside time each week to network. Invest in new networking channels, from joining organizations to connecting with old contacts. Attend open houses and community events. In addition to attending events in person, look at using email and digital marketing to automate your networking and outreach. Having a plan is the key.

Schedule your Continuing Education

As a real estate agent, you should already know the continuing education (CE) requirements for your state. Consider that the bare minimum for your career. Many real estate agencies and organizations will have additional requirements, so be sure to understand any additional criteria as soon as possible.

You should never wait until the last minute to meet your CE requirements. Schedule classes early before they become an issue, and your license is at risk. Get them on your calendar so you can plan other work around them.

Network Land Title offers several opportunities to earn CE credits throughout the year, especially during the slow season. Be sure to check our Events page, Facebook, and LinkedIn for upcoming classes!

Don’t Wait to Make 2025 a Success

For many real estate agents, the last few years haven’t been easy.

Experts believe that markets are starting to open, and there’s more opportunity for real estate agents. There are still challenges, so the preparation and work you do now will be critically important in the coming year.
